Unhealthy ‘Health Foods’
by Dr. John Berardi
Products that claim to be ‘Cholesterol Free’ and ‘Low in Saturated Fat’ often have the most trans-fatty acids. Unfortunately these are the products that most of the public thinks are ‘healthy.’ Remember, trans fats have absolutely no place in the diet! They’re the only type of fat highly associated with very negative health outcomes.

ForestFit September

Author: admin 29.08.08

Open for registrations, but only 6 places remain for the 7am group. This will probably be the last 7am group we run purely outside this year due to lack of light early morning. Get your place now at ForestFit.com

We also have our 09:30 group running again starting the 15th September. Register over at ForestFit.com

This one has been prompted by one of the most commonly asked queries about joining both ForestFit and JessBoxing!

I can’t come to XXXXXX, I am not fit enough!

I totally understand why it comes up. I appreciate there is a level of apprehension with joining a group training program when you think you are not going to be able to keep up, complete all the moves, do all the exercises etc… no one wants to be left behind, or stand out and be the one struggling the most.

I suppose it is like a mirror, we always think that someone else looks slimmer, stronger, fitter, faster than ourselves. We hate testing our theory out as well, for fear of being right!!

The problem is unless you actually test out your theory you’ll never find out that you are actually WRONG. I generally find that most people massively underestimate their physical abilities.

You have a choice right now, you can continue to fear the unknown and get more worked up by your worsening physique and physical condition, OR, you can get off your butt and prove yourself wrong. No brainer really!

___________________________________________________________________

On Saturday 20 September 2008, from Place Guillaume @ 14:00, till around 21:00.

Enter a team on a discovery voyage through Luxembourg City to sample its lush history, rich culture, delicious gastronomy, exciting technology, and much more…

Registration of teams can be made online from 26 August at www.discover-luxembourg.lu (50 Euros for a team of 4 people).

About 50 teams are expected – to include clubs & associations, companies/offices, tourists, and families/friends. In fact, anyone can enter. For safety concerns, all teams must have at least one adult.

Each team will collect a map with a series of clues to lure them across the city (on foot). Teams will explore a number of Event Stations to face an entertaining challenge. These challenges consist of tasty gastronomic samplings, intriguing cultural and historical puzzles, and active sporting elements - along with some stimulating brain-teasers. All will be fun with something for everyone!

This event concludes with a prize-awarding ceremony. Food & drinks will be available for purchase during the accompanying live musical entertainment.

In-depth knowledge of Luxembourg City will not be of any advantage!

All information on the day will be in French, German & English.

Nutritional Tip Skip The Cheat Meal

Author: admin 16.08.08

Skip the Cheat Meal, Fatty
by Dr. John Berardi
Cheat meal frequency should be minimized when you’re over 15-20% body fat. Basically, the fatter you are, the more likely that any excess food will be shuttled toward body-fat storage rather than muscle mass. So skip the cheat meal unless you’re lean. And even then, think of it as an alternative food meal - not a cheat. Cheat meals are usually glorified forms of dietary debauchery. Alternative food meals allow for something a little different from the norm without the trough.

Nutritional Tip Why Choose Oats

Author: admin 02.08.08

Why Choose Oats
by Dr. John Berardi
If you’re looking to gain mass and have a good carbohydrate tolerance, place a bowl of fiber-rich, low-GI rolled oats along with ½ scoop of vanilla protein powder, frozen mixed berries, pineapple and a small quantity of mixed nuts right next to your omelet. This is a muscle building breakfast that’s hard to beat. I place this bowl right next to my omelet for a breakfast that’s hard to beat.

However, if you tend to hold a lot of body fat, just stick with protein, good fats, and veggies for breakfast. Save the non-fruit and veggie carbs till after exercise only - yes, even oatmeal.
